No the sad thing about Pokemon is it has never had anything even resembling a sotry arc .

1. Beat Rival
2. Beat Gym Leaders
3. Beat Evil Team Boss
4. Beat Elite 4
5. Beat Rival Again (If playing R/B/Y, if playing after beat Champion)
With the occasionaly rival battle going on inbetween (Im speaking about R/B/Y, G/S/C

I think the anime is just some guy playing R/B/Y who sucks and cant beat the elite 4, or something like that. I gave up on the Anime a Long Long Long time ago
