I think that particular short was from the second library volume, but you should really begin from the beginning. It's a sort of character melodrama (with some fantasy elements, but mostly realism), so the beginning is really where you need to start to understand the characters. Thanks for the comic book post in my thread, I've meant to give Our Gang a look sometime but completely forgot about it. I love Jeff Smith's work and know Walt Kelly was a huge inspiration to him so I'm definitely ordering some of those books!
